What is HOSA?

​HOSA - Health Occupation Students of America - is a national student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Each school has its own chapter, similar to ours here at Round Rock High School. We are both a health-related community service club and a program that allows students to compete in health events at the District, Area, State and even International levels. The purpose of the HOSA organization is to develop leadership and technical health professional skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition.

What does our club do?

The Round Rock High School HOSA chapter offers a wide range of opportunities for those interested in the medical field. Our chapter participates in area, state, and international HOSA competitions, with events ranging from CPR/First Aid to Healthcare Issues to Biomedical Debate. In addition to competitions, we are actively involved in community service events such as blood drives and Homecoming. We also host guest speakers from various healthcare professions, providing insights into different medical careers and fields. Beyond these activities, our chapter engages in other medical-related events designed to help you explore the field of medicine and build a strong foundation for your future career!

What are the benefits of HOSA?

There are many benefits involved with HOSA, including: -Develop effective leadership qualities and skills -Build self-confidence, motivation and enthusiasm -Strengthen their academic and technical skills -Create friendships and social networks -Participate in community service activities -Set realistic career and educational goals -Expand communication and teamwork skills -Develop workplace readiness skills -Understand current healthcare issues In addition, HOSA can benefit your college and internship applications, especially if you do well in a competition or serve in a leadership position.

What competitions does HOSA have?

Do I have to compete to be in the club?

No, you don't have to participate in HOSA competitions to be part of the club! We still offer plenty of community service opportunities, guest speakers, and healthcare exploration events for you.
